In the case of internationally mobile families, a distinction is made between highly mobile and mobile families. You will find further information here.

If your child was born between October 1, 2019, and September 30, 2020, he or she will start school in 2026.

2. APPLYING TO WMIS 1st grade

Before you come to WMIS

Families with an address in Berlin: Please register your school-age child during the official Berlin-wide registration period at the elementary school responsible for your area (Schule im Einzugsgebiet). This is usually the nearest public elementary school to your home.

Suppose you want to register your child at WMIS. In that case, you must first apply for a change of school at the elementary school in your catchment area and then submit an application to WMIS, and pass the “Antrag auf Aufnahme des Kindes in eine andere öffentliche Grundschule/ Umschulungsantrag” together with your application forms.

Please note that you may not register as a first, second, or third choice at several schools at the same time.

If WMIS is your second or third choice and your first choice is Nelson Mandela School, simply submit the registration form there.
